Dell XPS PC |

I was wanting to know whether or not this system was worth the money or are you better to make your own system?
Over here in malta the price is roughly 1,300 pounds sterling and here are the tch stats
Intel Viiv Q6600 Quad Core Processor 2.40GHz, 1066Mhz FSB, 8MB cache
Memory 4GB Dual Channel DDR2 667MHz [4x1024MB]
19-in-1 Bluetooth Media Card Reader
Hard Drive 500GB Serial ATA non Raid (7200 Rpm)
DVD+/-RW (read/write) 16x max and DVD (Reader) 16x (2 drives)
SINGLE 768MB nVidia GeForce 8800 GTX
Audio Integrated HDA 7.1 Dolby Digital capability
UK/Irish Speakers External Zylux Dell A525 Silver/Black spks + Subwoofer
Dell Premium Optical Mouse (non Wireless) USB Black for Vista
UK/Irish Keyboard Dell Enhanced Multimedia USB (QWERTY)
Windows Vista Home Premium
Microsoft Works 8.0 (Word Processor, Spreadsheet, Outlook Express, Powerpoint Viewer) (With Recovery CD)
I want to go and get this system; however, when making a purchase like this, shop attendants can always try and sell you but inside information from people that upgrade systems are better.
Please give me you feedback!
Remember, this is PC, speakers, mouse and keyboard only.
I currently have
80Gb (non sata) Hard Drive
AMD Athlon 64 proceesor
Nvidea 6200 AGP Graphix Card
1Gb Ram
would it be worth my while to just upgrade what I have? |

| Dell makes good pc, but are way too expensive. You can probably go to your local pc shop and get one custom made for half the price of a dell pc |

Truth.
And also Stalker, I'll bet you the value of your laptop that it doesn't run Crysis 'just fine'. Running Crysis on DX10 all 'Very High' with 8xAA on my machine gives me serious problems at times, and it outspecs your laptop by a small leapyear. _________________ ~ aka aphex . |

yeah i did know that Dell owns Alienware but , dell may have brought AW but AW are better laptops they are designed better the cases are lighter (xps was well heavy it was like 10lbs or sumthing and they place the touch pad on the left hand side and not middle so when you use the wasd keys and you slightly touch the pad , you start aiming in odd places) the link below is the one i had , which i took back in the first week
http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/store/cur_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0984493965.1208813931@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccehadedlkhgffkcflgceggdhhmdgmj.0&page=Product&fm=1&sm=0&tm=2&sku=459398&category_oid=
+ it work better than my XPS laptop. the XPS one i had was crap if i played cod4 on it it would just chug across the screen as in lag (poor fps) and it wouldnt even run crysis
Well on my new badboy it runs everything crysis at high end not sure how high i havent really pushed it i normally play at 1280X1024 on mostof my games and it runs it fine it kicks the ass out of cod4 lol i can happly max that out and i have other games too what the laptop dosent hesitate , i fully understadn that lappys go out of date but so do pc's, plus you cant bring a pc to a oil rig and various locations around the uk. so i pretty much know i have the most upto date laptop going at the mo , it will last a few years as i did max out on the upgrades to cpu , ram etc _________________ Stalker
